Firefly, the popular television series comes to life in a new boardgame from Gale Force Nine and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products. Compelling characters, great storytelling and an evocative universe has made Firefly a fan-favorite for the past ten years. Now fans of the television show and board games can chart their own course with Firefly: The Game, arriving on store shelves Fall 2013.

In Firefly: The Game, players captain their own Firefly-class transport ship, traveling the ‘Verse with a handpicked crew of fighters, mechanics and other travelers. As a captain desperate for work, players are compelled to take on any job -- so long as it pays. Double-dealing employers, heavy-handed Alliance patrols and marauding Reavers are all in a day’s work for a ship’s captain at the edge of the ‘Verse. Firefly: The Game is a high-end thematic tabletop boardgame from Gale Force Nine (GF9). Last year we announced our intention to make a series of printed space mats. These would be similar to our D&D mats, made of durable vinyl that could marked using wet erase markers. We wanted to produce something that was suitable for any sort of space gaming, rather than any one system in particular - mainly because like most gamers we have so many different rule sets we like to play!)

As many of you will have already heard, earlier this year we expanded our license agreement with Wizards of the Coast to include a new category Dungeons & Dragons Collector Series Miniatures. This premium range of models sculpted by some of the best names in the business and reproduced in the highest quality resin on the market is something never before done within the Dungeons & Dragons universe and we are very excited about what the future holds.

This range was conceived out of a desire to create the best miniatures in 30mm that D&D has ever seen utilising the enormous universe of material to pick and choose the best candidates to bring to life. This is not a range of basic characters but specialty themed sets and creatures that fit with the D&D release schedule to bring to life key moments from the mythos. We have drawn on the vast array of artwork and worked closely with the D&D creative team to choose and pose great models to stimulate the enthusiast, painter and collector alike.

It is not just the high quality of models that will set these figures apart in the miniature world but they are also limited edition sets! We felt that given the breadth of worlds and the near endless list of models we could make we did not want to have an ever expanding range but one that each month had a couple of new codes added to it but also had some earlier codes selling out. As part of the plan to deliver this limited edition range to market we have joined in partnership with a select group of stores around the world who will be our D&D Exclusive Retailers. These stores will be the only place to get your models from, obviously us too, and we will be working with them closely to help them deliver this range to you. With limited run sizes between, 1000 - 2000 per code, pre-ordering with your closest store will be essential and given the first two months of releases for January and February are now up for pre-order get in touch with your store today if you want to make sure to get your hands on the first of the Underdark series of codes.

The next thing you will all be asking is what’s next and although you won’t get a detailed update until early next year it is easy to say that you won’t have to wait long until you see Lolth in Spider Form, your first Dragon and Giant and a dark skinned ranger and famous wizard as well. We have only just started with this range but have the first dozen projects almost complete so stay tuned for more images and information as we surprise you every month with what we have planned.

22 November 2012 Spartacus Board Game Expansion Coming in Early 2013!
The shadow of Rome falls over Capua. Spartacus: The Serpents and the Wolf expands Gale Force Nine’s Spartacus: A Game of Blood and Treachery with two new Houses, and adds new cunning Schemes, deadly Gladiators and the vicious spectacle of team combat in the arena during the Primus!

Two new Houses; the respected praetor, Varinius and the arrogant noble, Seppius, dramatically change the game’s Intrigues. Varinius imposes his will on the noble Houses while the meddling Seppius twists the plots of others to his own nefarious ends. Shrewd new Schemes and frantic Reactions will cause more treacherous assaults and desperate alliances between the Houses than ever before! Houses bid for new Slaves who add to the fortunes of their Dominus with new skills and talents. Combatants learn new brutal fighting techniques as new weapons and armor become available. Powerful new Gladiators stand among the other champions of Capua, ready to make their mark in the arena and earn glory and Influence for their Dominus. Teams of Gladiators battle each other in a grand spectacle of blood and strategy with the addition of the Primus. Two Gladiators are matched against another team of two. 22 November 2012 Stay on Target! GF9 shows off new Space-themed Game Mats
Space may be the final frontier, and there may be galaxies far far away, but that does not mean that your models should be forced to play on an old tablecloth when instead you can have high quality printed vinyl Game Mat instead. These 36" by 36" mats are printed using the same technology as our D&D range and will stand up to years of gaming. The mat lies flat for ease of play and is sold in sturdy polycarbonate tube for easy storage and transport and may be marked with wet-erase markers. Our first two releases will be the Space Station Game Mat and the Space Game Mat. These Game Mats are available in the online store for pre-order now and will ship early 2013 (don't worry, you will not be charged until the Mats are instock and ready for shipping!). Gale Force Nine’s Spoils of the Arena Facebook contest celebrating the release of Spartacus: A Game of Blood and Treachery is drawing to an end. The final prize drawings will be Friday, so this is your last opportunity to enter the contest. Each week, GF9 has been awarding five lucky fans a set of Champions of House Batiatus Gladiator Game Cards. Five more sets will be awarded on Friday, November 16th as well as the Grand Prize!

Badlands Plateau (BB548)...
The Badlands Plateau is an imposing terrain piece, a large rock formation; it effectively conceals anything from cowering bandits to hulking warmachines. A series of small steppes and knobs allow models to scale the plateau and take advantage of its elevation. The Plateau top is broad enough for a whole squad of troops or an artillery emplacement.

Badlands Bluff (BB549)...
The massive Badlands Bluff is a towering feature with broad flat steppes which allow your forces to control every area of the rock formation. The different elevations of the formation allow you to take the high ground or duck behind cover. The top of the bluff is broad enough for multiple models while still offering the cover of smaller formations.

23 August 2012 Spartacus goes international! Gale Force Nine is pleased to announce that Spartacus: A Game of Blood and Treachery will be available in multiple languages after its initial launch. Now more players will be able to bask in the glory of the arena while plotting to bring down their rivals’ houses. In November 2012 we will publish French, German and Spanish language versions. Those releases will be followed up in December 2012 with Italian, Polish and Russian language versions.

Today it gives us great pleasure to announce the upcoming release of a new line of products in support of Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeons & Dragons brand. We have been given the opportunity to bring to life a series of D&D miniatures models, the likes of which the world has never seen. The Dungeons & Dragons Collector’s Series is a line of high quality, unpainted, limited edition resin miniatures sculpted by some of the best names in the industry. We’d like to shine the spotlight on three product configurations. 1. Monsters (something big) 2. Duels (two creatures) 3. Adventuring Parties (groups of creatures) Our current plan is to release two limited edition products each month beginning this fall. The initial series of releases will highlight the Underdark theme and focus on all manner of denizens you may find there.
