GF9’s Battle Maps are printed on durable vinyl and lie flat for a superior game experience. These quality gaming surfaces come rolled in a solid, plastic tube for easy storage and transport. The maps may be marked with WET-ERASE markers by players who wish to temporarily alter terrain areas or make other notes about battlefield conditions played in-game.



Dawn of Man is a 36” x 36” Outdoor Battle Map (24 squares by 24 squares) with hindering, blocking, elevated and water terrain elements.

The world is in crisis as time begins to fold in on itself. In the distant past, at the dawn of humanity, a lone cave boy learns the power of fire from an enigmatic being. Gale Force Nine unleashed WarCogs at Gen Con 2008 and the response was overwhelming. We’ve made some adjustments to the final release version based on the valuable feedback we’ve received since the show. Production is now under way for the late October launch of our most anticipated token system to date!

The WarCogs token sets will allow players to track a variety of different effects and abilities for their warbands. Each token set contains a Lexicon card to note which symbol corresponds to a spell or effect. Also included in the set is the handy "Melee Gauge" which can easily slip into the swirling mass of combat to determine 1/2” melee range for hand-to-hand fighting and 2” range for reach weapons in-between models.



Whether a veteran commander or fresh recruit, our new WarCogs range gives players premium gaming accessories that work with our existing tokens. WarCogs were also designed as a stand-alone product to satisfy the needs of new players or players starting new warbands.

WarCogs will be available in five distinct colors to personalize your warband! Along with the tokens sets, we’ll release five corresponding template sets to complete your basic accessory needs. And the gears are already spinning on planning future releases for this dynamic new token system!

The remainder of our Battlefield in a Box terrain sets for Warmachine will be available from our booth at Gen Con 2008. Our license to produce these limited edition items will expire very soon; afterwards these sets will no longer be available from GF9. The flip side of the arrow is marked RETREAT to mark your fleeing troops should the fight go against them.

Our popular dice sets for Warmachine and Hordes are available once again! These quality dice are cast in a faction or warband specific color and emblazoned with the appropriate logo in place of the SIX. Each package contains twenty (20) dice; sixteen (16) faction versions and four (4) Privateer Press™ logo dice. While these dice are no longer packaged in a handy dice tin, each pack contains twice as many dice as before!

We only have a limited amount of these dice remaining and once they’re gone, they are gone for good! As of July 26th, Gale Force Nine will no longer be able to sell these dice as well as our templates and tokens for Warmachine and Hordes.

GF9’s best-selling gaming aid has been taken back to the drawing board and redesigned to make it even better! The Multi-Template Mark II offers a superior level of playability, durability and visual appeal.



The more compact shape allows a player to get the template into tighter spaces on the battlefield; such a whirling close combat where toy soldiers are tightly packed. We have also eliminated any extended, weaker points on the template. This greatly cuts down the chance that the template may crack or even break at one of the joints since the narrow parts are gone. Last, but most certainly not least, we made the Mark II neon orange. Try losing this template on a tabletop! Not going to happen! Game ON!


One question has been asked more than any other regarding the Mark II Multi-Template: Why would GF9 redesign a product that they sell thousands of each year? The answer is very simple: We listened to the feedback from players all around the world and recognized that there was room for improvement on an already great product. This is how the Mark II came about...player input matters!

The Multi-Template MK II will be in stores worldwide as part of Gale Force Nine's dynamic new line of Gaming Aids releasing this summer. The template can also be purchased from the GF9 Online Store!

To our disappointment, Privateer Press has chosen not to renew the Warmachine and Hordes accessories license with GF9 in favor of producing their own range of gaming aids. (See “Privateer Press, Inc. announces new gaming tokens for WARMACHINE and HORDES”, May 23, 2008, www.privateerpress.com!).

This announcement will affect all Privateer Press™ licensed products including branded tokens, templates, terrain and dice tins for both Warmachine™ and Hordes™. The tokens, templates and dice tins will be available for direct sale through July 26th, 2008. Terrain sets will be available through September 16th, 2008. After this sell-through period, the tokens, templates and dice tins will no longer be available direct from GF9.

The fearsome warjacks and dark industries of Cryx are fueled by a charnel material known as Necrotite. We at GF9 were saddened to hear that Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons, passed away today at his home in Lake Geneva. He was 69.

Gary was a born story teller and a wonderful person to talk with in person. Gary's rules and fantasy universe was the original reason many of us "Gamers" got exposed to role playing and the hobby industry to begin with.

We will miss you, but your game, stories and imagination will live on forever.

MILWAUKEE - Gary Gygax, who co-created the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons and helped start the role-playing phenomenon, died Tuesday morning at his home in Lake Geneva. He was 69.

He had been suffering from health problems for several years, including an abdominal aneurysm, said his wife, Gail Gygax.

Gygax and Dave Arneson developed Dungeons & Dragons in 1974 using medieval characters and mythical creatures. The game known for its oddly shaped dice became a hit, particularly among teenage boys, and eventually was turned into video games, books and movies.

Gygax always enjoyed hearing from the game's legion of devoted fans, many of whom would stop by the family's home in Lake Geneva, about 55 miles southwest of Milwaukee, his wife said. Despite his declining health, he hosted weekly games of Dungeons & Dragons as recently as January, she said.

"It really meant a lot to him to hear from people from over the years about how he helped them become a doctor, a lawyer, a policeman, what he gave them," Gygax said. "He really enjoyed that."

Dungeons & Dragons players create fictional characters and carry out their adventures with the help of complicated rules. The quintessential geek pastime, it spawned a wealth of copycat games and later inspired a whole genre of computer games that's still growing in popularity.

Funeral arrangements are pending. Besides his wife, Gygax is survived by six children.

Gale Force Nine is proud to introduce templates and tokens for use with Urban Mammoth's Urban War and Metropolis miniatures games.

Urban War: Strike-Team Actions is a fast paced sci-fi skirmish game set in a brutal far-distant universe. Players build small teams of soldiers to fight in the war-torn city planet of Iskandria, the scene of countless vicious conflicts between competing factions, now also threatened by aggressive alien incursions.

Metropolis is a fast paced sci-fi battle game set in the same brutal universe as Urban War. However the war in Iskandria is escalating and the initial skirmishing is developing into full-blown military conflict. In response, all the warring factions are throwing in ever-increasing numbers of fresh troops, including heavier armoured elements. The focus shifts from the individual to the squad, and players take command of armies, or ‘battle-forces’, containing several squads.



The template set is laser cut from durable see-thru orange colored acrylic and is etched with all the markings required to play both Urban War and Metropolis.



The Urban War token set focuses on the status of the individual models during heated faction battles. The Actions Token Set is designed so that you can place your hero on top of the appropriate token and easily identify their state of activation within that hero’s square. Now at a glance you'll know who's performed an "action" and who's been "pushed" to perform two actions.



Each pack contains four (4) blue Action tokens and four (4) red Pushed tokens. The tokens are designed to fit under the figure’s combat dial with colorful tab showing the figure’s status.



The battlefields of titanic heroes and diabolical villains are often choked with obscuring smoke. Now you can represent these effects in your HeroClix battles with GF9’s Smoke Effect Markers.



The Smoke Effects Markers have an additional function to represent their unique effect in the game. The center smoke cloud may be removed while the base remains in place to indicate when HeroClix models are moving through smoke.
